About us
How The Hiveaway was born

Our Story
We moved from Surrey to Wales in 2018 as newlyweds, with our first child on the way. Having spent many holidays exploring this beautiful area and camping along the Welsh coast, we’d long dreamed of running a café or B&B. That dream took shape when Nick’s parents moved to a smallholding—giving us the perfect opportunity to create a glamping business that brought our vision to life.
This part of Wales has so much to offer, and we wanted to share it with others. So, we designed and built The Hiveaway—a place where guests can experience the beauty of the area while staying somewhere truly memorable. Since settling here, we've planted a small orchard, had a go at growing our own vegetables, converted an old cow shed into our home, and hatched our own chickens. Along the way, we’ve welcomed two children, started learning Welsh, and become part of the land we love.
Nick’s parents also have six alpacas, who are often seen out for walks. We enjoy exploring new trails with our little ones—now 6 and 3 years old—and our two spirited Cocker Spaniels, Luna and Baloo. One of our favourite spots is Ffynnone Waterfalls, where the dogs love splashing about, and we often wander through the nearby Coed Y Foel Woodland Trust.
Living here gives us the best of both worlds: peaceful seclusion and easy access to vibrant local towns, full of fantastic independent shops and eateries. You’ll find some of our favourites in the Explore section, and we’re always happy to offer more recommendations.
When you arrive, head to the Welcome Shed to find your key safe and an honesty cupboard stocked with logs, charcoal, firelighters, and kindling. There are wheelbarrows to help with luggage—but if you’ve packed a lot, just let us know and we’ll happily help you take it up to the cabin.
Once you're settled in, pop the kettle on, take a deep breath, and enjoy the peace—we’re so glad you’re here.
