Nestled in a wildflower meadow in peaceful West Wales countryside, The Hiveaway is a collection of secluded off-grid cabins, perfect for couples or small groups seeking a romantic weekend getaway in Wales. Surrounded by swaying wildflowers and the gentle sounds of nature, it’s an idyllic retreat for relaxation, yet just a short drive from Newcastle Emlyn, local villages and foodie town Cardigan. A short drive to Cardigan Bay beaches such as New Quay and Penbryn.

Is the cabin dog or pet friendly

To maintain the peace of the cabins and protect the cabin's meadow surroundings, we do not allow dogs or other pets. This ensures every visit is a tranquil, restorative escape.

EV Charging

For guests travelling in electric vehicles, EV charging is available on site, making The Hiveaway a convenient option for a sustainable off-grid cabin escape in Wales. Please let us know in advance if you’ll need to use the charger so we can ensure it’s ready for your arrival.

Is there wifi in the cabins?

The Hiveaway is designed as a digital detox retreat, so there’s no Wi-Fi or television. However, we do have a strong 4G connection, so you can get online if you need to check emails or stay connected while still enjoying a romantic weekend getaway in Wales.

Off-grid, but fully luxurious

While our cabins are off-grid, don’t be fooled into thinking you’ll be roughing it! The Hiveaway offers all the modern comforts of a luxury retreat:

  • Proper flushing toilets inside the cabins

  • Hot rainfall showers with fantastic water pressure

  • The Skep even features a separate bath in the ensuite

How do we check in?

The cabin offers self check-in from 3:00pm, so you can arrive and start unwinding at your own pace. We live on site and are always just a phone call away if you need assistance. During your stay, you may spot us and our friendly (though enthusiastic!) dogs roaming the grounds.

Where do we park and how far is the walk to the cabins?

On-site parking is provided. From the car park, it’s a 4-minute stroll along a stone path to the cabins. A handy wheelbarrow is provided to transport your luggage—perfect for making your romantic weekend getaway in Wales effortless. Please return it at the end of your stay.

Do the cabins have a hot tub?

Yes both our cabins do! Our wood-fired hot tubs are perfect for soaking under the stars during a romantic weekend getaway in Wales.

It takes around 4 hours to fill and heat the tubs. We provide:

  • Clear instructions inside the cabin

  • Towels, robes and a thermometer

  • Enough firewood for one hot tub session

If you need assistance with the hot tub, we’re happy to help—your relaxation is our priority.

What is included in the cabins?

Our luxury meadow cabin in Wales comes fully equipped to make your stay effortless and enchanting:

  • Tea, coffee (instant and local welsh coffee beans), sugar

  • Semi-skimmed or oat milk (please let us know your preference)

  • Olive oil, salt & pepper

  • Kitchen essentials: foil, greaseproof paper, kitchen roll, washing-up liquid

  • Welsh Myddfai toiletries (SLS & paraben free)

  • Bed linen, towels, and robes

  • Toilet roll

  • Firewood and firelighters for the log burner

  • Well-equipped kitchen with gas hob, oven, cookware, crockery & glassware

  • Bluetooth DAB radio, books, and games

  • Torch, matches, and cleaning products

  • USB charging points and low-wattage sockets (no hairdryers)

  • Firepit and cosy outdoor seating

Can we buy extra firewood during our stay?

Yes. For longer evenings by the fire or extra hot tub sessions, additional supplies are available via the honesty box:

  • Firewood crate – £5

  • Kindling – £1

  • Firelighters – 50p (bag of 3)

  • Welsh charcoal – £10

What should we bring for our cabin stay?

For a comfortable, care free stay in our off-grid cabin, we recommend:

  • Wellies or sturdy boots

  • Flip flops (for the hot tub)

  • Waterproofs

  • Bug spray and hayfever tablets

  • Torch

  • Food and drink

  • Umbrella, sun hat, suncream (season dependent)

Are there shops, pubs and amenities nearby?

While the cabin feels wonderfully secluded, local conveniences are just a short walk or drive away:

  • Penrhiwllan Village Shop – 15-minute walk or 3-minute drive

  • The Daffodil Inn – 20-minute walk or 3-minute drive (check opening hours)

  • Petrol station – 6-minute drive

  • ATM – 10-minute drive

  • Supermarkets – 10 minutes (Newcastle Emlyn) or 25 minutes (Cardigan)

Is there electricity and charging available?

Yes. The cabin has USB charging points and low-wattage sockets, suitable for phones and small devices. High-power appliances like hairdryers are not supported, keeping your off-grid cabin escape in Wales peaceful.

What time is check-out and what do we need to do?

Check-out is 10:00am. Before leaving your romantic meadow cabin in West Wales, please:

  • Place used linen in the cloth bag provided

  • Empty bins into the outside metal bin (not glass)

  • Close all windows and turn off lights

  • Leave the key in a visible place inside the cabin

  • Return the wheelbarrow
