There’s nothing quite like the simple joy of a walk that makes you feel you’ve earned your lunch. Fresh air, stunning scenery, a gentle stretch of the legs — all finished off with a plate of something delicious. Whether it’s coastal views, hidden waterfalls, or riverside rambles, these walks combine natural beauty with the reward of a café or cosy pub at the end.

Here are some of our favourite beautiful walks that lead to lunch in West Wales:

1. Llangrannog to Penbryn – Ending at The Plwmp Tart

This is a coastal classic. Start in the pretty seaside village of Llangrannog and follow the coast path to Penbryn. The walk is short but spectacular, with clifftop views, secret coves, and often the chance to spot dolphins if you’re lucky. At Penbryn, reward yourself with lunch at The Plwmp Tart, a quirky little café serving excellent coffee, cakes, and hearty dishes that taste even better after a sea-air stroll.

2. Ffynone Waterfalls – Ending at The Nags Head, Abercych

Tucked away in ancient woodland, Ffynone Waterfalls feels like a hidden fairy glen. The walk is shady, tranquil, and filled with birdsong, and the sight of the falls tumbling into the pool below makes the perfect photo stop. Once you’ve soaked up the magic, head to The Nags Head in Abercych, a welcoming riverside pub with a menu full of local favourites — the ideal way to round off a woodland wander.

3. Llanerchaeron to Aberaeron – Ending at The Harbourmaster

This gentle walk follows the old railway line from Llanerchaeron, a National Trust estate, all the way to the colourful harbour town of Aberaeron. The route is flat and easy, making it perfect for a hand-in-hand stroll. Your reward? A table at The Harbourmaster, famous for its seafood, harbour views, and long, lazy lunches.

4. Teifi Marshes – Ending at Crwst, Cardigan

Start at the Welsh Wildlife Centre and explore the trails around the Teifi Marshes. Expect reed beds, river views, and the chance to spot otters, kingfishers, and wild ponies. Once you’ve worked up an appetite, head into Cardigan and grab a seat at Crwst. Their menu is full of indulgent brunches, freshly baked bread, and sweet treats — the perfect fuel after a day outdoors.

5. Brechfa Forest Keeper’s Walk – Picnic or Ty Mawr, Brechfa

For something a little wilder, head into Brechfa Forest. The Keeper’s Walk is a beautiful loop through towering trees, mossy trails, and streams that sparkle in the sunlight. Bring a picnic to enjoy by the water’s edge, or take a short drive to Ty Mawr in Brechfa, a rustic inn serving excellent food by the fire.

Why We Love Walks with a Tasty Ending

These are walks that strike the perfect balance — not too long, not too tough, but with enough fresh air and scenery to make you feel like you’ve really earned that slice of cake, that pint by the fire, or that beautifully cooked seafood dish. It’s the best of both worlds: nature at its finest, followed by food at its most comforting.

So next time you’re staying with us at The Hiveaway, lace up your boots, set off on one of these trails, and make your way towards a very well-deserved lunch.
